emember life before the Internet? Maybe you don’t, so let me recall a tale of a time long ago when people used to have to watch this thing called “television” for entertainment. And believe it or not, television still exists!
Most people nowadays only have TV as an afterthought on their Internet packages, but did you know there was a way you can watch TV without paying extra on your Internet bill?
It’s super simple.
All you need is an antenna. That’s literally it. Thought there would be some elaborate explanation? Nope!
Simply purchase one of those old rabbit ear TV antennae, and you’ll instantly receivetelevision.
Sure, the channels are limited, but the price is right.
(And, yes, it’s in HD.)
You might be wondering if this is breaking any laws.
And the answer is no! All you need is the magic antenna and instantly receive tons of free channels that are broadcast over the airwaves locally in your area.
It wasn’t but 20 years ago that this was the most popular way to get TV.
How times change…
We’re talking real channels too, not just PBS type stuff.
Some of the channels anyone can getare ABC, NBC, Fox, and CBS. Not a bad start, at least.
It’s hilarious that this “hack” came about just because people have forgotten that free TV exists.
An antenna will only run you about $20.
And that’s a one-time purchase, unlike the numerous dollars it’ll cost you every month to pay for cable.
Most young people are completely unaware of broadcast television.
Partially because of the switch to Hi-Definition in 2009 which switched most stations over to digital, so the popularity of antenna decreased. (But mostly because of the popularity of the Internet, let’s be real here.)
It’s always nice to teach young people something about technology!
